Artists’ Union England (AUE) – Statement of Solidarity for the National Education Union (NEU) “No Going Back Until It’s Safe.”

Updated: Jun 01, 2020

AUE sends solidarity to NEU, school staff, pupils, parents, carers and school communities protesting against an unsafe return to schools.  We support all staff calling for safe working practices and a safe return.  We believe that our members, who often combine arts practice and studio work with teaching, community arts and other forms of often precarious employment, should also be kept safe.  We are deeply concerned that people from Black and ethnic minority groups (BAME) have been disproportionately adversely affected by coronavirus. We support the call for an independent public inquiry into BAME deaths and the increased safeguarding of people from BAME groups and those living in greater poverty.
