TUC Yorkshire & Humber (Y&H), working in partnership with Artists Union England recently awarded AUE member Josie Brookes a special T-Shirt commission, an exciting new project to support AUE Solidarity Fund and TUC Y&H future campaigning work.
Taking inspiration from the aims and ethos of the labour movement, Josie will be creating a design that allows members of the trade union movement to express their shared sense of solidarity.
“As an AUE member myself, this is a special project to be part of and I’m very honoured to be able to work on a campaign that supports and promotes equality for workers, including artists” commented Josie.
The interview panel, TUC Policy and Campaigns Officer Gareth Forest and Solidarity Fund trustees Katriona Beales and Martin Gollan said, “it was strong short list and we’d like to thank all the AUE members who submitted ideas”. Gareth Forest added “we’re really excited about Josie’s work and this commission”
Katriona Beale said “the panel were impressed with Josie’s portfolio and think her ideas will translate into a strong design with widespread appeal”
The new t-shirts with Josie’s design should be available to buy from TUC Y&H from September and will be on sale at future events including the annual Tolpuddle Martyrs Festival.
