The Artists' Union England is delighted to announce that as of February 2016 we will be working with Morrish Solicitors to offer our members free legal advice and personal injury service.

The then-Chair of the Artists’ Union England, Hayley Hare explained:

'I am so pleased to announce our relationship with Morrish Solicitors. Having the facility to advise our members professionally is a great step forward for the Artists Union England. This is a service members have been asking for since the formation of the Union and we are proud to have listened to their voices and proactively responded'.

We believe that this is an essential and important benefit to offer to the AUE membership - in order to support individuals working as 'professional artists' in today’s society.

The Artists’ Union England is a new trade union for professional visual and applied artists.

Artists’ Union England was publicly launched in May 2014 by a cross section of artists from across the country, in response to an evident need for representation from a trade union. Unlike other cultural professionals artists have had no collective voice in the form of a trade union to represent them at work, and to lobby and advocate on their behalf.

As a trade union we aim to represent artists at strategic decision-making levels and positively influence the value and role artists play within society.

About Morrish Solicitors

We are, first and foremost, a Trade Union and Personal Injury law firm. Our aim is to be the principal provider of legal services to Trade Unions and membership associations within our region and across the UK, principally England and Wales.

Morrish Solicitors have a long history of providing quality legal services to many Trades Unions, Professional Associations and their members.

Paul Scholey, Senior Partner at Morrish Solicitors commented:

‘We are delighted to be working with the Artists’ Union England in providing employment law advice and representation to the union and their members. We believe everyone should have access to legal services and advice and this new partnership will allow us to provide support to members and their families when they need it most.’

No-win, No-fee Personal Injury Service

The personal injury service is no-win, no-fee (subject to the rules of the scheme) and caters for members and their families who have suffered injury, both in and outside of work.

Services include:

Alongside these services AUE members will also benefit from:

  • Conveyancing Service – 10% discount
  • Wills, Probate and Elderly Client Services – 10% discount
  • Family and Matrimonial – 10% discount
  • Specialist Medical Negligence Team
  • Free half hour legal consultation

We believe that this partnership represents a shift in the Artist Union England and strengthens the professional help and support that we can offer to our members.

We want to challenge the economic inequalities in the art world by working together to negotiate fair pay and better working conditions for artists, as well as promote models for good practice.

We would like to thank the team at Morrish Solicitors for this wonderful offer of support and the work of the AUE Exec for making this a reality.
